In very good vintage condition, a beautiful, large, signed, vintage Alicia Penin Wall Art Tile, ready for hanging on the wall.
Depicts a campesino farmer ploughing his land in Lanzarote, with volcanoes in the background, alongside his whitewashed house. Prickly pears and other cactus feature. In fact, the camels in Lanzarote are dromedaries and not the usual two humped camels. As they only have one hump, it is much more difficult to ride them in the Timanfaya Fire Mountains!

Cesar Manrique transformed the island of Lanzarote and was sadly killed in a fatal car accident in 1992, at just 72 years old. An environmentalist, artist, architect, thinker and lover and protector of his homeland, he saved Lanzarote from becoming just another Spanish tourist resort, destroyed by the need for an income from tourism for the impoverished campesinos and created a utopia of visitors sites from the natural materials of the island. Lava, rock, volcanic ash and cactii. Long may he live on.
I myself was lucky to have been influenced by the island and the man himself and my daughter is a Conejera by birth. This is my collection of pieces from both the Island and Cesar. Please do let me know know if there is anything you are looking for as I may be able to find it for you. I now live in Almeria in Spain, a total Hispanophile and Manriquephile.
